D in Imamite Theology from the University of Quran and Traditions Translator: Shabib Rezvi Jan 2021 Abstract: Shiite traditional legacy is rooted in earlier writings of the companions of the infallible Imams (a.s.). Over years, these writings under the title of “Original Sources of Shiite Writings” was passed on through generations and reached to the authors of the Four Books of Narrations. One of the key questions in the history of Imamite traditions is the issue of the spread of the transmittance of the companions’ books to the later traditionalists. In other words, the question is that were their writings transmitted to the later generations through several channels or through a signal one? According to the sayings of the traditionalists and the earlier scholars of Rejaal, the fame and multiple general sources of the companions’ writings was an established fact. But with the compilation of the Four Books and with the relative sidelining of the books of the companions, many of the channels of their transmittance was consigned to forgetfulness and this issue was transformed to the topic of juristic investigation. In this research, with the analysis and the comparison of the present chains of narrators in the earlier lists (Fehrest Najaashi r.a. and Fehrest Shaikh Toosi r.a.), the multiplicity of the chains of transmittance of the books of companions has been concluded in most of the instances.
